Simplification is the essence on my work. My constructions are intended to be pure design – that is, distillation of its elements: line, form, texture, etc. – emphasizing clarity and beauty. Color can distract from this emphasis, so my constructions are generally white on white, with shadows providing enough color. Nature is the strongest influence. Living near the ocean has a profound effect: the consistency of its presence yet its ever changing patterns of waves, sand and cloud reflections. To capture, simplify and freeze patterns and forms at one particular moment is a challenge. Elimination of the extraneous and reduction of ideas to their essence carries over to all of life.
